Tai Chi & Qigong Festival & Symposium: 2026: June 5-7, 2025 and June 13, 2026
Last year's event was a tremendous success!!! We hope that everyone will return this year, and bring their friends.
Of course, we tried a few things last year that we need to improve upon this year. You can read all about them in the 2025 Tai Chi Festival Report (coming soon). For now, let's go over some of the things you will need to know to plan for the 2026 year.
- Next year the in-person event will be held on June 5 - 7, 2026 and the on-line event will be held the following weekend, on June 13, 2026.
- We are focusing the in-person main event on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Starting with Sunrise Tai Chi at 5:15 am and ending with Sleepytime Qigong at 10:30 pm, the entire day will be filled with workshops, panels, meals, and connecting with friends. All three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be held in the Mt. Lake Park dining room.
- We will be going out to dinner, at a restaurant, on Friday evening, June 5, 2026. The only planned session will be Sunset Qigong at 8:00 pm.
- We will be going out to breakfast, at a restaurant, on Sunday morning, June 7, 2027. The only planned sessions will be Sunrise Tai Chi at 5:15 and two workshops (one at 6:30 and one at 7:30 am.)
- The on-line event on Saturday June 13, 2026 will focus on legacy panels as well as symposium-type Tai Chi & Qigong topics with interspersed movement-oriented workshops that can easily be done in a small room.
As you can see we are giving up on the hybrid idea (holding the on-line portion and the in-person portion at the same time). We simply don't have the proper equipment to make the hybrid the seamless high-quality workshops that we'd like. When solely on-line next year, the sound will be high quality and the focus can be on the lesson and not the technology.
We also need to narrow our scope. While a few people loved the intensives that we held the day before, it wasn't successful enough for us to try that again in 2026. We'll try again when our attendance numbers increase significantly. The same is true for the Friday morning and Sunday afternoon workshops. The majority of people came Friday evening and left before lunch on Sunday, so we didn't get enough people registering for the full three days.
If you were around on the last day at the Festival last year, you may remember that we discovered that another organization had already reserved Mt. Lake Park for the whole summer starting June 11, which means that we were not able to reserve for the originally-planned third weekend in June. The only available weekend is June 5-7. (We didn't want to do that weekend because our good friend Richard Clear holds his event on that weekend in Tennessee. Unfortunately, we could not find any other venue (and yes, we worked really really hard at looking!) for the third weekend in June of 2026 at a reasonable price.)
So, with apologies to those who can't make it, we needed to move our weekend to the first weekend in June. We hope that you can at least make the following weekend when we go on-line.
